Day 9 Lowell ID to Lochsa Lodge , Lolo ID

What a wonderful day to be at the beach, temps in the 100's,clear blue sky, light winds. However, we were on the bike, so while it was that nice, riding in these conditions were tough. Leaving at 5:30 helped a bit, getting someone to shuttle most of our gear ahead was nice, but the bottom line was we pedaled 66 miles, climbed 1267 total feet, and put 527 miles behind us,all day uphill!
Alone is spinning up the road with absolutely no one around, coming in and out of the morning sun as it struggled to top the canyon walls surrounding us,and knowing we weren't on the top of the food chain out here. We started out with full water bottles, topped them off at the Historical Ranger Station 35 miles into the trip, stopped a couple in a rv to ask for some more and just made it to the end after drinking 12 bottles between us. Being prepared on a ride such as this is very important.
We did cool off in the river toward the end of the day, water temp was a bit warmer than the Clearwater but not by much. While there we met a couple returning to Wisconsin ,a state we will hopefully enter in August. But first we will continue to enjoy another day in Idaho, starting with our climb over Lolo Pass tomorrow morning. Our thighs are becoming stronger by the pedal stroke
