Day 13 Swan Lake MT to Columbia Falls MT

This is Kathleen, the innkeeper of the Laughing Horse. We had the pleasure of meeting some of her friends when we were invited to a evening get together . Great homemade salsa, salads and fresh huckleberry pie and ice cream were on the menu. We enjoyed every minute of it!
She also rows a outrigger canoe on Swan Lake when its not too windy. That is some skinny hull, but it moves through the water like a knife thru butter.

Stats for the day, only 45 miles due to the excellent shortcut recommended by Lloyd. Total climbing 1408 feet and 744 total miles.
We so enjoyed our evening here I just had to show some more of the place. After the breakfast it was time to go. The rest of the day went by quickly . We rode first on Rt.83, going along the shore of Swan Lake, but went off route on to Echo Lake Road and Foothill Road, advoiding a fast with traffic and windy ride into Columbia Falls. This was backroad riding at its finest, almost no cars, plenty of turns to glide thru, and a smooth road surface. By 10:30 we were more than half done with the day,and our PB&J stop was at Woodys,a crossroad establishment. From there we stayed on Montana's version of NJ's Route 206, only 12 miles, but no shoulder and lots of traffic. Once a logging truck came a bit too close for comfort, lucky for us we were able to do some off roading with no damage to the tires.
Didn't find any quilt shops for Jane to visit today, but she did get to practice her laundry skills.Having clean duds,a comfortable bed every night, and excellent weather so far has made this trip a walk in the park. Lets hope it continues.
