Day 11 Missoula MT to Seeley Lake MT

Stats:
54 miles (13 into the wind)
total climb: 1279 ft
elevation 4203 ft
total mileage: 638
What would a visit to Missoula be without visiting Adventure Cycling? Being dutiful tourists, we went. Of course since it was early, they were not open. But it was nice to go anyway. So in the cool of the morning we headed north. (And the quilt shop in Bonner wasn't open either!)

As we headed north along the Blackfoot River, we were warned of Big Horn Sheep, Alas, to our disappointment, they all stayed out of view. The scenery stayed beautiful with the river on our left. There was plenty of traffic since it was the weekend and this particular river is used for rafting and fishing.

After some steady climbing, the vista changed and we were treated to large open spaces. Vast is the only word I can think of to describe the landscape. And the ever present mountains loomed in the background.

The view from our al fresco dining area was just beautiful. Paul really knows how to pick them!

After fighting with the wind in our faces for the last thirteen miles and people returning home from their weekend of fun, we were rewarded with this view. Suddenly you forget the difficulties and how tired you are and just drink in the beauty.
