Day 46 Millersburg OH to New Philadelphia OH

Stats: mileage: 33; total climb 1908; total mileage: 2080

We knew that today was going to be a short day but we left early in order to beat the rain and the heat. We did beat the rain, but it was hot and humid as we left the hotel.
From Millersburg to New Philadelphia it is a straight shot on Rte 39 but that would have meant 31 miles with trucks and lots of fast cars. So we took every opportunity to parallel the main road and we we rewarded with all sort of sights.
After the goat on the roof (it wasn't the only one) we passed a Swiss cheese factory that also had a restaurant and some entertaining activities.
We were deep in farm country. The roads turned this way and that but there was very little traffic and lots to see.
As we pedaled through Sugar Creek we saw the most unusual sight of all....a trestle to nowhere!
When we reached the top of Red Hill Road, we looked behind us and were treated to this view.
Then we headed down the hill into the river valley, under Interstate 71 and into New Philadelphia for the night. We did beat the rain and the pool helped us beat the heat.

  2. A goat on a roof, a trestle to nowhere, Amish buggies staged & ready to roll, and all in one day......wow!
(Why do I feel like I'm in a Jefferson Airplane video from 1978?!) :)

What a wild ride you two are having!
