Day 43 Lima OH to Marion OH

Todays mileage: 60, total climb 1627', total miles: 1961.

Today we have a guest narrator.

To the non-tandem tripping set, this is a picture of a barn. To us, it is a picture of the nicest road shoulder we have yet to encounter. Smooth, without being slick, a dull gray that didn't reflect too much, speckled enough to provide depth and contrast, wide enough for safety without being too wide to feel foolish. If we didn't have 700 miles left, we would have ridden it twice.
So, according to lore, if a tandem trippers see their shadow, it means two more weeks of pedaling. If they don't, it means two more weeks of pedaling. Fortunately, we saw our shadow.
Here's the first port-a-john farm we've past to date. According the man in the truck, the yellow top means their ready to harvest. Based on the odor, they're using some serious fertilizer. The white poofs are actually dense clouds of flys. Fortunately, we have been bicycling in the same clothing since June, so they didn't bother us.
Paul enjoys a sausage and cheese omelet, oblivous to the dangers he'll learn of later that day.

Decisions, decisions.

Below is the home of president Warren G. Harding, coincidentially a fellow cross-country traveller. Unfortunately, he had not performed the requisite lifetime of endurance training and bird seed eating prior to commencing his trip, and died of heart attack in Seattle, Washington. Upon hearing this, Paul instantly regreted his breakfast choice.

  2. He has requested anonymity, but if you think about who has such powers of observation and dry wit, you will know!

  3. is this narrator also "tripping" with you or is the person adding text to pictures you give ? There are VERY few who could travel with you that any of us would know...adding text to pics, gives lots of other options...hmmmm?

  5. I'll take a stab and say it's TF. I seem to recognize the brand of wit after many, many years of personal exposure. However, DW comes in as a close second for me, based on his past experience with this kind of thing. I'm just saying ......
